Adding skid rollers

Our Unity use to drag / clunk the rear hitch in our driveway or anywhere with a large dip in / out of a entrance/exit. The macerator pump is in an area where it could make contact and that would be a very bad thing!

The rollers we choose to install are the Hitch Mount Steel Rollers. They easily mount to your existing hitch bar, requiring just two U bolts on each. Now we have just enough clearance before these rollers will “kick-in”. Install took less than an hour including greasing the wheels as recommended. The steel rollers are very solid and well built.

If the rollers were just slightly larger in diameter, or if you add a spacer block between then and your hitch, they would “kick-in” a little sooner and perhaps give you more help. I could not find larger diameter ones that were not constructed of a rubber/steel assembly, and that style did not get good reviews, often saying they spit apart after first contact.
I used a length of board and held it at the base of the rear tires and then up to the bottom of the hitch bar. Anything hanging down below that board could get potentially get knocked when entering/exiting sites. With the rollers installed I had just enough clearance between the macerator pump and the board to give me some peace of mind.
Some scuffing as expected will be found on the roller after its put to use, but they are performing way better than expected. Now I am able to get in my driveway without cutting at an angle and going over the lawn.
